How to Add a Checkmark to a PDF

Checking a box sounds simple, but it depends on how the PDF was built. Here's how to handle both cases.

    Upload your PDF

    The tool scans it and highlights any real, clickable checkbox fields it finds.

    If you see a highlighted box, click it

    That's a real form field — clicking toggles it on and off, just like a native checkbox.

    If there's no highlighted box, use the Checkmark tool

    Select Checkmark from the toolbar, then click directly on the printed box on the page. A checkmark appears there, which you can drag or resize to line up exactly.

    Prefer an X? Use the Cross tool instead

    Some forms expect an X rather than a tick — the Cross tool works the same way, placed wherever you click.

    Download when you're done

    Every checkmark or cross you've placed, along with any real checkboxes you've toggled, is saved into the downloaded PDF.
